About the Role
Peafowl Plasmonics is a deep-tech startup company making transparent solar cells. This is the first commercial direct plasmonic solar cell that converts light into electricity using plasmonic nanoparticles.


We are looking for an R&D Engineer to join our team. You should have experience from metal nanoparticle synthesis, surface modifications and ink formulations.
You have a solid understanding of materials science, and ample experience of applying your analytical abilities when designing experiments and assessing data. Since we are growing and are keen on recruiting a person with the right personality, a more senior role might be considered if your merits and qualifications justifies it.

Responsibilities:
Synthesize metal plasmonic nanoparticles with precise control over size, shape, and composition.
Develop and optimize functionalizing of metal nanoparticle surfaces using organic linkers.
Formulate plasmonic inks incorporating the functionalized metal nanoparticles, ensuring stability and compatibility for subsequent deposition processes.
Develop and evaluate ink formulations for printing
Characterize the synthesized nanoparticles and their functionalized surfaces using spectroscopic techniques.
Evaluate and compare various deposition methods for precise placement of nanoparticles onto semiconductor surfaces.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate plasmonic nanoparticles into direct plasmonic solar cell architectures.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in plasmonic nanomaterials

Requirements:
M.Sc or PhD with work experience in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
Expertise in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, preferably plasmonic nanoparticles.
Proficient within surface functionalization techniques, such as organic linker chemistry.
Experience in formulating inks or solutions for thin film deposition.
Familiarity with characterization techniques for nanomaterials such as spectroscopy
Great problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Proactive and solution-oriented mentality
Excellent communication in English (oral and written)

Advantageous:
Hands-on experience with deposition methods such as spin coating, inkjet printing, or other relevant techniques.
Understanding of photovoltaic principles.

Now we are looking for a curious?R&D Engineer?to join our team to contribute to the development of our direct plasmonic solar cells. You will work in a group focusing mainly on thin film fabrication and characterization. You have a solid understanding of materials science and thin film processes. You have hands-on experience in solution processing of materials and devices and their evaluation methods as well as ample experience of applying your analytical abilities when designing experiments and assessing data.?

Responsibilities:
In this role you will be in charge of thin film fabrication of various semiconductor layers using thin film processes, especially solution processes such as slot-die coating and inkjet printing. This includes systematic development and optimization of process parameters for various materials used in our solar cell stack as well as?characterization of the thin films and their interfaces with the rest of the stack. As most of the work will be focused on solution processes, hands-on experience with precursor ink design is desirable.
In this position, you will work with diverse layers of our solar cells which influences the prototype design and manufacturing to a large extent. Thus, knowledge in photovoltaics and energy harvesting systems is very appealing. It is also of importance that you have a good understanding of material interactions, charge extraction and recombination phenomena in multilayer devices.
You are expected to engage in collaborations with interdisciplinary teams both internal and external to integrate thin films into direct plasmonic solar cell architectures. It is also essential for you to stay updated with the latest advancements in the thin films area and photovoltaics to help your team position itself well in the field.

Requirements:
M.Sc or Ph.D. with a few years of experience working with Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics or another related field.
Expertise in thin film solution processes such as slot-die coating and inkjet printing.
Experience in thin film deposition methods.
Experience in characterization techniques such as SEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD and electrochemical characterization techniques.
Experience in data processing and analysis.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Proactive and solution-oriented mentality
Excellent communication in English (oral and written)

Advantageous:
Hands-on experience in precursor ink design and solution chemistry.
Experience in thin film thickness, roughness and resistance measurements.
Knowledge of photovoltaic principles.
Experience in pump-probe measurement techniques.

Tasks:

- Develop new generation of Peafowl photovoltaics
- Identify faults and possible improvements to the current Peafowl photovoltaic
- Establish routines for fast-screening of new materials and transporting layers
- Manufacturing of photovoltaics in plastic and glass




Requirements:

- PhD in organic, quantum dots or perovskites solar cell technologies (especially in developing the transporting layers)
- Additionally 2-3 years working experience (preferably industry)
- Extensive expertise in device manufacturing (n-i-p and p-i-n architectures)
- Knowledge on photovoltaic characterization (e.g. impedance, electrochemistry)
- Experience in thin or semi-transparent photovoltaic technology
- Good scientific track record

• Characterize by ultrafast laser spectroscopy the charge injection.
• Evaluate and compare various synthetized ligands to establish future design roles for molecular linkers.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate linkers-modified plasmonic nanoparticles into direct plasmonic solar cell architectures.


Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Analytical and Environmental Science and several years working experience as a postdoc (preferably working with transient infrared absorption spectroscopy (TIRAS).
• Proficient in multistep organic synthesis (e.g., linkers) and the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, preferably plasmonic nanoparticles.
• Proficient in the synthesis and characterization of functional building blocks for self-assemblies.
• Experience with sample preparation, characterization and morphology interpretation of self-assembled nanostructures (e.g., XRD, TEM/SEM, AFM) and nanoparticles (e.g., DLS, UV-vis).
• Hands on experience with ultrafast laser spectroscopy for charge injection and dynamic studies (e.g., fluorescence spectroscopy, transient absorption and transient IR spectroscopy).
• Great problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
